Château Lespault-Martillac

Château Lespault-Martillac is one of the oldest vineyards in Martillac. It is situated on an exceptional terroir, a splendid gravelly rise overlooking the commune, and is predominantly planted with Merlot vines. Since the 2009 vintage, the operation of this vineyard has been entrusted to Domaine de Chevalier, a Grand Cru Classé of Graves, with the goal of making it one of the gems of the appellation. To achieve this, the methods now applied are those of the greatest crus: soil plowing, mechanical weeding, parcel selections, exclusively manual harvesting, transport in crates, and organic viticulture currently undergoing certification. For white wines, grape picking and sorting are done based on the level of ripeness. And fermentation is carried out by batch, in barrels. For red wines, intra-parcel selections, sorting tables, gravity-fed transfer into tanks, malolactic fermentation in barrels, and extended aging are employed. These choices are the only guarantees for the creation of a great vintage.
