Château Brown

Château Brown is named after a wealthy Scottish wine merchant, John Lewis Brown, who bought the estate in 1795. Located at the gates of Bordeaux, in the heart of the renowned Pessac-Léognan appellation, Château Brown is one of the few so-called “peri-urban” vineyards. A true natural gem in the city, the 60-hectare estate, of which only 31 hectares are vineyards, is situated on the oldest terroirs of the Bordeaux vineyard: the Graves du Nord. Purchased by the Mau and Dirkzwager families in 2004, Château Brown has since been completely redesigned and restructured. At the helm of the estate, Jean-Christophe Mau places the vineyard at the center of his concerns and is dedicated to practicing demanding and responsible viticulture. Here, everything is done to protect this exceptional setting where vineyards, forests, orchards, a floral farm, and meadows coexist.
