Château Carrosse-Martillac

“Exceptional wines and a family story… This 15-hectare estate is the result of a shared passion between two brothers, Ghislain and Julien Miailhe, who offer precision viticulture to create two outstanding wines on an exceptional terroir in the heart of Pessac-Léognan (pure gravel, gravel on clay, and clay-limestone), using practices that respect the vine and its ecosystem, aiming for optimal quality. Château Carrosse Martillac has selected Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot grape varieties, suited to the different soil types of the estate, to extract their finest expression, and carries out parcel-by-parcel vinification. The vineyard management at Château Carrosse Martillac, consistently attentive to environmental concerns and respect for its terroirs, has naturally led the owners to achieve a High Environmental Value certification level 3. This certification emphasizes the absence of herbicides in favor of traditional soil tillage, meticulous pruning, and manual harvesting to ensure a rigorous selection. The vinification takes place in modern facilities equipped with temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, allowing for cold pre-fermentation maceration. Integral fermentations and malolactic fermentations in barrels are also carried out to fully express the characteristics of the grape varieties. The aging is done in French oak barrels for 18 months, with the barrels being renewed annually. Château Carrosse Martillac is a highly appealing wine, outstanding in balance, that, through the finesse of its tannins, embodies the elegance characteristic of the very finest wines from the Pessac-Léognan Appellation d’Origine Protégée.”
