Here is the emblematic property of the André Lurton vineyards, the smallest of the six family estates and Crus Classés of Graves. In 1967, André Lurton took over the estate on a lease to save it from being pulled out and produced the first vintage. He acquired the vines in 1972 and the château, cellars, outbuildings, and beautiful park in 1992, thus completing the creation of Couhins-Lurton. This discreet gem is a well-kept secret; it consists of 6 hectares classified as white and 12 hectares as red. Its rare clay-limestone terroir produces mineral Sauvignon Blancs and fresh, smooth Merlots. The wines are fermented and aged in 500-liter barrels and in 400 and 650-liter stoneware amphorae. This meticulous artisan work results in a wine of great elegance, while being complex and aromatic. Since the 2019 vintage, Jacques Lurton has been crafting this wine, bringing his technical expertise to it; it is a wine shaped with gentleness, guided by a vision, and imbued with its unique terroir. Previously called ‘the Sleeping Beauty,’ the property receives special attention and ambitious projects. A rare gem.
