“Château Lafont Menaut is located in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, near renowned Crus Classés such as Latour-Martillac and Smith-Haut-Lafitte. In the 18th century, the lands of Lafont Menaut, already planted with vines, belonged to Baron Montesquieu, the famous writer and winemaker. Since 1990, Philibert Perrin, alongside his work at the family property Château Carbonnieux, has undertaken a replanting program to revitalize this ancestral vineyard.
The terroir consists of two gravel ridges naturally drained by the Menaut stream, where a fountain once served as a washhouse during Montesquieu’s time. The white and red wines are aged in oak barrels, imparting finesse and complexity to the wines. Château Lafont Menaut Blanc is charming, vibrant, fresh, and marked by a beautiful aromatic intensity. Château Lafont Menaut Rouge features a lovely tannic structure and develops aromas of black fruits (blackcurrant, black cherry, and blackberry), smoke, and pencil lead, with a nice freshness and persistence on the finish.”
