Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion

“The Carmes Haut-Brion vineyard, with 12 hectares of vines and 3 hectares of parkland, benefits from a unique situation: it is the only Bordeaux estate located within Bordeaux itself. It is thus one of the last enclosed urban vineyards, with an atypical grape variety composition of 40% Cabernet Franc, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot. With a historic estate dating back to the 16th century, the château was, from 1584 to 1792, owned by the monks of the Grand Carmes. After the French Revolution, it was bought by the Chantecaille family, wine merchants in Bordeaux, and later sold to the Pichet Group at the end of 2010. This unique and ancient place is the birthplace of a terroir that allows the creation of a great wine from Pessac-Léognan.”
